Following the announcement that the UK and EU have reached an agreement on a free trade deal, CPA CEO Dave Bench said:
“Although it adds costs and administrative burdens, when compared to the possibility of no-deal our sector welcomes the clarity this deal brings to our members' businesses and to British agriculture more broadly.
“This deal provides the UK with the regulatory autonomy to better implement the existing plant protection product regulations without being subject to delays and the increasing politicisation of decisions. We look forward to working with the government to develop a joined-up approach to policymaking which ensures we balance the need to protect and enhance our natural environment, whilst supporting sustainable, productive agriculture.”
